Shannon Algeo

Shannon guides you to experience your mind, body, and spirit from the inside out. Think of each pose as a meditation — an opportunity to witness your self. This alignment-based, breath-focused practice allows you to tune into your body as a sacred vessel so you can facilitate healing and growth. Each class blends Hatha, Slow Flow Vinyasa, Anusara, and Forrest Yoga.

Alexa Silvaggio

Alexa is down to get you moving and you will move, but she wants you to focus on the things that hold more gravity: breath, self-compassion, and listening to your body. Through this practice, you will stay open to the informations the formation have. This woman keeps it real, keeps it fun, and will inspire you not only to move, but to cultivate a body, mind and life that you dig.

Jessie Barr

Jessie's creative classes combine the fluid sequencing of a vigorous vinyasa practice with clear, artful alignment. Her passion for studentship, skillful cues and deep love comes through her teaching so clearly. Jessie's classes integrate aligned vinyasa, meditation, breath work and therapeutics as well as Katonah Yoga theory and practice. She encourages a playful approach to exploring the body and mind, and balancing energy and effort with a sense of lightness and curiosity. Her classes are designed to spark your imagination and enhance your joy.

Why We Practice

Here are some of the proven benefits of yoga + meditation.

Mind

  • Practicing meditation for as little as three months has shown to drastically reduce anxiety and stress.
  • Meditation reduces the density of brain tissue around your amygdala - the part of the brain that triggers the fear response.
  • A variety of different types of meditation, from mindfulness to yoga, have been shown to strengthen the human immune system and make you more resistant to viruses and infections.

Body

  • Just 10 minutes of yoga before bed can help you sleep better.
  • According to a research study, a single yoga class has the the ability to significantly reduce tension, anxiety, depression, anger, hostility, and fatigue.
  • 10 minutes of yoga per day is enough to strengthen bone density and prevent osteoperosis.

Breath

  • Research shows that deep breathing leads to increased energy levels, decreased feelings of stress and overwhelm, and muscle relaxation.
  • Our lungs communicate between our inner and outer atmospheres; they are our mediators. Our ability to manipulate our breath as a practical tool has powerful results.
  • The ability to rev our selves up when necessary and also calm ourselves down is an empowering practice that helps us take responsibility for our happiness and manage how we handle ourselves in the world.
